The Heart of England Branch of the Sunderland Supporters' Association
exists to serve the needs of exiled Mackems and supporters of
the world's greatest football club living in the English
Midlands.
Founded after the epic Play Off Final defeat the branch owes its
existence to the efforts of founder members Julie Harris, Steve
Hay, Chris Herriott and Paul Walsh. They felt the need to
re-establish a branch in the Midlands after passing car loads of
fans on the motorways whilst travelling to games.
Covering the largest area of any of the branches from
as far east as Milton Keynes, as far west as Hereford, as far
south as Oxford and as far north as Derby, it currently numbers over
50
members who all share the passion of following the mighty Red
and Whites.
The branch provides opportunities for Sunderland Supporters to
get together for informal meetings and to follow their team home
and away sharing the ups and downs that are a part of life when
following Sunderland AFC.
The Branch is proud to have ex club captain Kevin Ball as its
President.
Kevin has been a great President for the branch, he has organised signings
for fundraising and has made a couple of visits down to spend
the evening with us.
We have also had visits from Lord Gary Rowell of Seaham, Bobby Kerr,
Dave Watson, Len Ashurst, John O'Hare, Gary Bennett and Niall Quinn.
